    Are you New to MS?

The New to MS Virtual Meet Up is a virtual support group that takes place on the 4th Thursday of each month from 8-9pm EST / 7-8pm CST.  It is important to note that the November and December virtual meeting dates occur off schedule to the holidays.

This casual monthly meetup provides an opportunity for those new to MS to connect with others who are navigating their own journeys. Participants share information, learn coping strategies and build confidence in addressing the challenges of MS. This group is led by a Society staff member and volunteer who lives with MS.

    MS Study Opportunity

Maitreyi Madhia, an amazingly talented Frisco, TX is a high school student working on an AP Research Class project. She has chosen to work with people with MS that experience night time muscle spasticity in their legs.

"My name is Maitreyi Madhira, and I am a high school student from Frisco, Texas, conducting research on sleep-induced spasticity and its impact on stress and cognitive flexibility in individuals with Multiple Sclerosis. This study aims to further our understanding of how sleep-related symptoms may affect the daily cognitive function and quality of life of MS patients, with the ultimate goal of providing insights that could benefit the MS community."

This is her introductory video link. Check it out!:

If you experience this symptom (i.e. night time leg spasticity) and would like to participate in a phone interview with her that would be greatly appreciated. She hopes to have all interviews completed by mid-January.

If you are able to participate, that would be fantastic and very helpful to her project.

Do you have multiple sclerosis and struggle with cognitive problems?

If so, you may want to consider participating in the research study

What is this research study about?

We want to test a cognitive rehabilitation intervention (Memory Attention & Problem Solving Skills) in persons with MS - MAPSS–MS) in a virtual – ALL ONLINE - format. We developed and tested this effective intervention for “in person” and we now want to see if it will work as well in a virtual format.

    MAPSS - MS Flyer

    What will you do?

    If you qualify for the study and choose to participate, you will;

    • Take surveys in cognitive test online at three different time points (before the intervention, immediately after the intervention, and six weeks after the intervention)
    • Attend eight online classes about strategies you can use to improve your cognition
    • Receive up to $100 in gift cards for being in the study

    Interested?

    BYLSG North Texas Members

Since heat is a concern for many of our MS friends, I wanted to share a summer special we are offering with you in hopes that you will participate.

Julie is an online yoga teacher with Mindset Fitness Yoga who offers LIVE VIRTUAL classes: mat yoga class at 9 am, and chair yoga at 11 am; these are live virtual classes with recordings available afterward. She has also been incorporating some new techniques she's learned, so I am eager to see how it helps people.

This special is one price – $129 – for the entirety of the membership, which runs from date of sign up to August 31st. The goal is get or keep people moving with the lengthening & strengthening yoga provides, all while staying inside and COOL!

There is no need for those who sign up to cancel or worry about renewal billing - we really just want to offer movement that can be done safely, consistently, and with a like-minded community during the summer months.

Attached is a flyer about the program and a QR Code to register or CLICK HERE or here https://mindsetfitnessandyoga.com/events
